Rhythm. Space. Restraint.
A thought on what design and music can learn from leaving room.
A phrase needs somewhere to go. It also needs room around it. A pause can give the next note its weight, just as a quiet passage on a page can let one idea land.
That is a useful design principle: attention is shaped by relationships. A heading feels large because something around it is smaller. A movement feels intentional because everything else is still.
When every element asks to be the soloist, there is no arrangement. When every detail is quiet, there may be no reason to listen.
The work is finding the balance, and knowing when the best next move is to leave some space.
